DIY TERRARIUMS

While at Ikea yesterday I remembered that I wanted to make s terrarium!
I bought all the supplies at ikea (www.ikea.com) for under $12.00
I bought this Jar ( which I wish I went with a jar with a wider opening) especially dealing with cacti! OUCH!
The cacti and succulents were only 2.99
I used the potting soil that was already existing in the pot.

First I made a layer of the rocks (the ugly rocks) for the first layer

Then I removed the plants from their plastic pots and transferred them into my glass jar
I used a paper towel to transfer for them. The needles didn't hurt that bad unless they went under your finger nail.

Once cacti/succulents were in position I moved the soil to keep them in place. sprinkled a little bit of water and IM DONE!
Mine are kind of boring I'm going to try and find some cute small flowers to give it some color.

*forgive the photos. With the cut colored glass I just sprinkled it on top of the soil gives it nest look and  www.ikea.com has about 6 different colors to chose from.

The best part of about these plants is they don't require much water (hardly any) so its darn near impossible for me to kill them while I abandon them for weeks on end.
The perfect plant for us traveling Gypsy's

Playing Photographer

Today I had so much fun playing photographer! Here are so some photos I took today of Vanessa. She is about to pop out Karsten any day now! Vanessa was SOO against having maternity photos done but I was able to convince her for about 10mins, with of COURSE NO face shots! hehe
The backdrop of these photos I hung a cloth of burlap and used a white curtain for the other.  Focal blur is awesome...The photos I used #pixlr for editing.
Here are the photos...enjoy!

Lots more to come when this little boy finally gets to meet the world!

Journey

I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you're going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.
